129 days until XBRL filing is mandatory in Kuwait

Your financial statements, filed in XBRL — and accepted the first time.

From 1 January 2027 every legal entity in Kuwait must file through the Ministry’s Qayd portal in XBRL. Mizan turns your finished IFRS statements into a valid filing, and checks it against the Ministry’s rules before you submit.

What is changing

The Ministry stopped wanting documents. It wants data.

Today a financial statement is filed as a PDF — a picture of numbers that a person has to read. XBRL replaces it with tagged, machine-readable data: every figure carries a label saying exactly what it is, for whom, and for which period. The Ministry’s system reads it directly, and checks it automatically.

Every figure is tagged

Each line item is bound to a concept from the Ministry-approved, IFRS-based taxonomy — so “Revenue” means the same thing in every filing in Kuwait.

Validation is automatic

Qayd runs dozens of structural checks on upload. One inconsistency — a sub-total that does not add up — and the whole filing is rejected.

Non-compliance has teeth

Failure to file under Companies Law No. 1 of 2016 can escalate as far as revocation of the commercial licence.

How it works

Four steps. Your accountant still does the accounting.

Mizan does not replace your books or your auditor. It takes the statements they have already finalised and turns them into a filing the Ministry will accept.

Bring your figures

Type them into a guided form, upload a trial balance from Excel or CSV, or push it straight from your accounting system over our API. A direct Odoo connector is built in.

Map once, reuse forever

Your chart of accounts is matched to the official taxonomy — automatically, with a confidence score on every suggestion. Later filings reuse it.

Validate before they do

We run the same structural and calculation checks the portal runs. If something would not pass, you see it here — in plain language, not an error code.

File with confidence

Export the finished XBRL package and submit it to Qayd. Every action is recorded in an audit trail you can hand to an inspector.

Sovereign infrastructure in Kuwait
Security & residency

Your financial data never leaves Kuwait.

Mizan runs on infrastructure we own and operate in Kuwait — not a foreign cloud region. Financial data is isolated from anything public-facing, encrypted at rest, and every access is recorded in an append-only audit log.

  • We hold only what a filing needs — not your raw transactions
  • Per-tenant isolation, with a dedicated database for firms
  • Immutable audit trail with integrity hashing
01Public zoneWebsite and sign-in. Holds no financial data at all.
02Application zoneThe tagging and validation engine. No public address.
03Data zoneIsolated, encrypted, no outbound access. Your statements live here.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does Mizan do my bookkeeping?

No — and that is deliberate. Mizan takes the IFRS financial statements your accountant or auditor has already finalised and converts them into a valid XBRL filing. Your books, and your auditor’s judgement, stay exactly where they are.

Do I still need an auditor?

Yes. Kuwait’s rules require financial statements prepared under IFRS, and audit firms are themselves required to work in XBRL. Mizan is built to sit alongside your auditor, not to replace them — they can work in the same file with you.

What if I keep my records on paper?

That is fine. Manual entry is a first-class feature, not a fallback. You — or your accountant — type the finished figures into a guided form, and every field is already a tagged taxonomy concept behind the scenes.

Can I connect my existing system?

Yes. Any system can push a trial balance to Mizan over our API — it is documented and available on every account. Odoo also has a built-in connector that pulls the trial balance for you; connectors for Zoho Books, QuickBooks and Xero are in progress. Whatever the route, your chart of accounts is mapped once and reused every year.

What will it cost?

We are finalising the tiers and will publish the figures well before filing becomes mandatory, so nobody has to budget blind. Pricing is per filing entity and billed annually — a firm filing for many clients pays per entity, not per seat. Tell us which tier fits and we will come to you with it first.

What happens if a filing is rejected?

The aim is that it never gets that far: we run the Ministry’s structural and calculation checks before you submit, and show any problem in plain language. If Qayd does return a filing, the error is mapped back to the exact figure that caused it.

Is there anything to install?

No. Mizan runs entirely in the browser on any device. The only optional installs are small connectors that push data from your own accounting system into your account.

2026 is the rehearsal. 2027 is the exam.

Filing electronically is optional this year and mandatory next. Use the voluntary period to map your accounts, test a real filing, and be ready long before the deadline.
